The purpose of the Board Presidents’ Forum is to foster learning, networking, and resource sharing among member school board presidents. We reserve the right to remove any content or to ban a participant who does not follow the following code of conduct. Here are the rules:
- Respect: Please treat all other community members with respect. Avoid any personal attacks, slurs, profanity, vulgarity or abuse in your comments. Healthy disagreement is encouraged; however, anyone making insulting, harassing or personally disrespectful comments will be asked to desist, and – if necessary – will be banned from the Forum.
- Commercial Content: The purpose of the Forum is for the exchange of information and resources among members. Promotional and commercial messages are prohibited. Posts containing suggestions or resources related to commercial content are appropriate only when they contribute to the discussions.
- Appropriate Content: Please use common sense when posting content and participating in Forum discussions. This includes, but is not limited, to the following guidelines:
- Do not post content that includes pornography, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity, hatred, bigotry, racism or violence.
- Do not post or discuss subject matter that is legally required to be kept confidential, such as information subject to a non-disclosure agreement, inside information, or any proprietary or confidential information learned in your role as a school board member.
- Do not depend solely upon the answers you receive to your questions in this Forum since other members will be responding as school board presidents and not necessarily as subject-matter experts. When in doubt, check with your school district administration, school lawyers and/or NYSSBA professional staff.
- Do not post or upload any material that could harm or disrupt another user’s computer system, including software viruses, spyware, or other similar programs, or would allow others to inappropriately access software or websites.
- Do limit your posts to relevant Forum content.
- Do not submit links to any external site that may violate these rules.
- Do contact the Forum community manager (NYSSBA) if you notice spam, inappropriate postings, or any violation of these guidelines. The community manager will determine the appropriateness of the post in question and follow up as needed.
- Content Cleanup
The community manager may move Forum discussions to appropriate categories, or close duplicate discussions and point people to ongoing discussions about the same topic. The community manager (NYSSBA) may remove a discussion or replies in a discussion that are considered to be confusing, mean-spirited, or otherwise inappropriate.
Thank you for following this code of conduct. The community manager (NYSSBA) reserves the right to amend or change it at any time.
