Audit Committees

We are interested in reviewing the makeup of our Audit Committee. We are currently using of a Committee of the Whole as our Audit Committee. How do you populate your Audit Committees?

Rachel,
We use a committee of 2 board members and 1 or 2 community members. Our external auditor meets with them prior to going over the audit with the rest of the board. The audit committee is then responsible to recommend the approval of the audit. This works well for us, a small 300 student preK - 12th grade district. The members of the audit committee are those with greater business finance background.

We have the whole board and use 4 members on the outside that have been selected by the BOE. The four members have extensive Accounting experience.
