Board Self Evaluation Options

Hello BOF:

I want to state out of the gate that I think SuperEval is an awesome tool for boards to evaluate their superintendents.  I have also heard very good things about the principal's evaluation instrument as well, from our retired superintendent. I am less taken with SuperEval for board self-evals.  BUT I don't want to do a self-evaluation on paper, either.  Too much number-crunching involved!

I recently had a thought that the NYSSBA Essential Evaluation Guide should be translatable into a Google survey.  Now that it's finished and ready to go, I really think this is going to work well.  I did check with Mark Snyder about possible copyright infringement, but NYSSBA want us to use their guide in any way we see fit!

I'm curious to know how other districts do their board self-evals, and in particular, if anyone else uses Google forms to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

  • We used to use Google forms, switched to SuperEval and very, very happy with the results.
  • We currently use SuperEval for our board evaluation.
  • Hello - We have used Google Forms as we found the cost for SuperEval isn't worth it for the board evaluation (we do use SuperEval for the Superintendent evaluation). Happy to chat more if you want to email me mjacobsenboe@hamiltoncentral.org
