  • We also motion and second on everything, including adjournment, going into exec session, going out of exec session, re-entering general session, etc. In our small district many times no one is even there to hear it, but we do it just the same :)
  • Likewise, we have a motion to adjourn thinking that the board can't do anything unless a majority agrees. But, I was recently following board minutes of another district and saw that the President declared the meeting adjourned. It made me think of Congressional hearings in which the Chairman says something like: "without objection, I declare the meeting adjourned." We will continue to vote.
  • We do a motion and a second on all of our resolutions, including the resolution to adjourn the meeting. And, yes, we vote on it too.
  • We currently get a motion and a second for all board action including adjournment, executive sessions or going back to open session, etc. It keeps us consistent with motions and voting as we do both in these instances. It has been common practice at our district and works well.
