Hi Everyone.  My District is in Westcheter.  Many of our buildings are old and with ventilation isses.  What are your Districts doing to address ventilation issues?  Any advice on the costs to address these matters?  We would likd to get our schools open full time in person. Thanks!

  • Over the last few years , begun pre Covid, we have been upgrading our univents to add AC. Most of our buildings where originally equipped with univents which provide separate ventilation for each individual classroom. As I understand it, these heating and ventilation units were required by SED code or perhaps health code.
  • We are on Long Island - we’ve upgraded and repaired the uni-vents in all buildings. Keeping windows & hall doors open as much as possible. Also in secondary buildings we’ve adopted a “California model” were students can walk outside around the building to get to the next class. It elevates hall traffic by 40 to 60%. We have been “all in” since September.
